As promised, the latest images from the installation process at Isledon Road MHRC that began yesterday evening.
We had a very industrious and merry crew of workers and everyone seemed to find a role that they were comfortable with. But there's still lots more to do before everything is ready for the opening on Friday, so it will be all hands on deck again tonight. As the artwork, and the two groups, come together, the project's name, 'Allowing', seems increasingly appropriate. It's becoming relevant in ways that I hadn't anticipated; as if the net has been cast out and is gathering all manner of unforeseen treasures. Please do come and see the final haul on Friday 10th October 6pm - 9pm http://winnicottwednesdays.weebly.com/allowing.html Sasha Price photographs by Helen Omand

Here's a sneak-peek at our latest project, 'Allowing', that has involved teaming up with the artists/members at the Creativity Centre at Isledon Road MHRC. After some careful planning and meetings over the course of the last few months, we all agreed that in order to experience a side-by-side approach both groups would work together on a single artwork that was to be made during a one-day workshop. By doing this, relationships were able to develop and the artwork was given the space to grow in an intuitive way. The idea of using a net came out of our early discussions and was considered to be rich in metaphors associated with connections and networks. It became the starting point for the work and provided a framework. It also held the potential to symbolise those important aspects of inclusion and safety. On Tuesday the installation process will begin, ready for the opening on Friday 10th October. We'll keep you posted on developments and will aim to share another snap-shot or two.
