Endings are so often charged with the emotional traces of previous endings, and as 'Allowing', our collaboration with the artists at Isledon Road MHRC, came to an end last week and the installation was taken down, there was something especially poignant about deconstructing the net that had come to symbolise beginnings of relationships and connectedness. As art therapists, we are familiar with the idea of an art work being kept as a concrete reminder or a souvenir of a relationship or a communication, but at the end of this collaborative experience, it was necessary for the art work to be dismantled. The individual elements were made separate once more and returned to their makers.
Thank you to the staff and the members and artists at Isledon Road MHRC for the memories, and to Sara Rivers who succeeded in capturing the essence of those memories in the photographs here. Special thanks also to Rowan Arts and Islington Exhibits. Sasha Price Photographs by Sara Rivers
